Institute History

The
Delhi Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (DIHM), erstwhile
Food Craft Institute, was established in 1983 by the Ministry of Tourism,
Government of India in association with the Government of Delhi as Food Craft
Institute (Polytechnic) for training in trades & crafts in hotel &
catering operations.
 The
Institute made a humble beginning from a portion of the Polytechnic building at
Kashmere Gate,
Delhi
.
Subsequently the Institute  moved
into its present location at Lajpat Nagar-IV. The growth in the Hospitality
industry has necessitated upgradation of Food Crafts Institute to a full-
fledged Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology with
unstinted support of the Government of Delhi in 1999. The first batch of the
three-year diploma students passed out in the year 2002 and got successfully
placed in the Hospitality Industry. In the year 2003, the first batch of the
Degree programme passed out. Over the years, the Institute has made rapid
progress and earned qualitative reputation in its own field. It is heartening to
state that DIHM is shifting shortly in its own sprawling Campus
